Stephany Folsom

For nearly a decade, Stephany Folsom has been a story analyst, reader and development executive at some of the top production companies and studios in the business. She is a former gatekeeper who knows what it takes to get your script through the door. Stephany will give you the tools to get your script in the best shape possible and the tools to help you become the best writer possible. She personally reads your work and gives you professional notes and advice that will actually prepare you for working in the industry.

While still in film school, Stephany learned the realities of movie making by assisting director Tony Scott on Enemy of the State. She soon took up the mantle of script development by doing coverage, script notes and project tracking at the Kennedy-Marshall Company (The Sixth Sense, Snow Falling on Cedars), The Jim Henson Company, Chuck Roven's Atlas Entertainment (Scooby-Doo, City of Angels, Fallen) and Lucas Foster's Warp Films at Sony Studios (Wild Things, The Mask of Zorro). She worked as a d-girl (slang for a film industry executive who considers scripts for further development) for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Granada America (Celebrity Fit Club, Nanny 911, Hell's Kitchen) and Disney-based producer Jane Goldenring (My First Mister, Five Dollars a Day).

How Stephany can help your writing:

Your script gets one chance to prove itself to agents, managers, producers and executives. So you better have it in the best shape possible before you throw out your opportunity to make your first and only impression.

Script writing is a collaborative process. Even A-list writers at the top of their game rely on constructive feedback from professionals. Every writer needs unbiased and professional input to make their script work as a movie and to make their script sales worthy (or at least get noticed). Your friends and family who love everything you do aren't the ones who can give you constructive feedback. Even someone with a more critical eye may not be able to tell you how to fix the problem and that's where a script consultant with an extensive development background may be the right option for you.

Stephany will evaluate your script's plot, structure, story, character development and help you address and fix the problems in your rewrite. Stephany will give you the same critical help a good manager would give a client and you won't ruin your opportunity to make your first impression in the industry.
