The Writers Guild of America, west Intellectual Property Registry has been providing a support service to writers in the film and television industry for over 75 years.

The service is also available to authors of all literary material including novelists, journalists, authors, playwrights, poets, etc. The service also covers intellectual property from photographs to architectural drawings to doctoral theses to lyrics, and compositions. The WGAw Intellectual Property Registry allows writers to establish completion dates for their material and backs up their claim to authorship. If a writer needs to take legal action regarding his or her material, a WGA registration can be used as evidence in a court of law. Material can be registered online, in person, or by mail. Complete instructions for registering with the WGAw Intellectual Property Registry are available at www.wga.org.

The WGAw Intellectual Property Registry is part of the Writers Guild of America, west.
