Update from Jerrol LeBaron Part 1Written by: Jerrol LeBaron

It has been some time since I have done any kind of an update regarding what InkTip is doing or what its plans are, so I thought I would give you an update.
We have quite a few things going on right now including partnering with the Fete Group, the Pitch & Networking Summit, ads, the InkTip magazine, and the documentary that I have been working on. Except for one, in one way or another, they are oriented to helping writers get their foot in the door.
First let me start with why I am working on these other things. I have been content with InkTip. We've been averaging about 3.4 scripts sold/optioned or writers hired every week now with 20 -21 movies made every year for the last 5 years.
However, as we all know, times are tight and tough. I could sit back, be careful with the business finances and hope for the best - hope that things didn't get worse.
The other choice I had was to see if there was any way I could expand. After all, I have loyal staff who have been with me for years. What kind of an employer would I be if I just stood by and let the company contract to where I have to lay off staff? They put their trust in me, so I had better live up to it.
So, how to expand the business? Well, InkTip is in a small niche market, and if I continue to do what I have been doing, then I am assured it has hit its peak. So whatever I do, though it might be a different venture, its end result must in some way help increase InkTip's recognition within the industry.
With that in mind, I partnered with the Fete Group to put on red carpet film release parties. At these parties we only invite producers, agents, representatives, distributors, media and name talent. The idea is that when we invite an industry member, that person will come with a guest. Most of the time the guest is also in the industry. That guest gets to find out about InkTip for the first time and as a result we get more producers looking for scripts and writers.
But the proof is in the pudding. On September 1, 2011, we hosted a pre-release party for the movie "Insight" directed by Richard Gabai and starring Sean Patrick Flannery, Natalie Zea, Adam Baldwin, Christoper Lloyd, Thomas Ian Nicholas and Veronica Cartwright. As a result of the pre-release party we put on, we improved the IMDB rating for the film by 3100 points, and with each of these actors we improved their ratings by about 140 points. And lastly, through the media we invited, more than 100,000 Internet pages were generated for this film almost overnight.
At this pre-release party, we had monitors all over the nightclub, which not only showed the trailer for the movie, but also had a commercial about InkTip. We had our InkTip magazine on the tables too. The result was that within 24 hours after the event, we had producer after producer registering for access to InkTip's writers and scripts.
So, this worked! And that means that we plan to host film release parties every month because it is a good way for producers to find out about InkTip so that we can get more scripts sold or optioned and movies made.
Incidentally, this is one of the reasons we decided to put on the Pitch & Networking Summit - to create this kind of synergy resulting in more writers getting their foot in the door. And as a note, before our first Pitch & Networking Summit, last year, our best year was 21 movies made, and 3.6 scripts/sold optioned or writers hired per week. Following the Summit, our average has jumped to a little more than one every business day, and we are at 25 movies made so far this year! That's an average better than 1 movie made every other week. This is by far our best year in terms of writers and scripts.
More on that, ads, the magazine and my documentary in a later update.
25 movies have been made through InkTip in 2011 alone!!! And hundreds more writers have sold/optioned their screenplays by having their scripts on InkTip.com. Go here to register. Go here to list your scripts.
