** UP TO 10 WINNERS WILL GET $500 EACH! **

As filmmakers, we know that outside of the film festival circuit, most shorts will die a lonely death in the bowels of the interwebs. So to help amazing shorts get the audience they deserve, we’re creating "Grave Intentions: An Anthology of Chills, Thrills, and Kills."

And your film could be a part of it!

If your short would be at home on The Twilight Zone, Tales From the Crypt, The Outer Limits, or Creep Show, we want to see it. Basically, we’re looking for anything that broadly fits the horror genre, including suspense, thriller, fantasy, sci-fi, supernatural, etc.

Up to 10 films will win $500 each and be included in "Grave Intentions," a feature length anthology with a creepy hostess, which will be distributed worldwide.

In addition to the $500, we also plan to award the winning filmmakers bonuses at various profit milestones for the anthology.

So if you want the chance to win at least 500 bucks and have your film shared with audiences around the world, submit to us now!

BUT THAT’S NOT ALL!

Since we’re screenwriters as well, we know how tough it is to get recognition for short screenplays, so we’re also hosting a contest to find great short scripts in this same horror-ish genre.

The winning screenplay will get $500, with the potential for Death Cat Entertainment to produce the script into a short film for the next volume of "Grave Intentions."

So if you have a script that will make us turn on all the lights and check under the bed, submit now for the chance to win 500 smackers and the possibility of seeing your script come to life!

Finally, when “Grave Intentions” is released in October of 2018, we’ll celebrate with a live screening event in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina!

"Grave Intentions" will be produced by Death Cat Entertainment, LLC. This organization is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.

The 17th Annual Women of African Descent Film Festival presented by The Brooklyn Chapter of The Links in partnership with RestorationART and the Billie Holiday Theater now opens its CALL FOR ENTRIES. If you would like to see an example of the lineup from WADFF 2017, click here. Please contact wadffbklyn@gmail.com with questions regarding the Festival.

MISSION & OBJECTIVE To showcase films that are centered around the theme of Linkages: Women, Their Families, Neighborhoods, and the Global Community, and to support the artistic development of Women filmmakers of African Descent by providing a supportive exhibition platform, offering stipends to participants, and seeking industry opportunities that will help to expose the filmmakers’ works and further their careers.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL The Women of African Descent Film Festival (WADFF) is celebrating its 17th Anniversary in 2018. The media constantly bombards us with negative images of people of African descent. Our positive accomplishments, uplifting experiences, and gifts to humanity get little attention. The Brooklyn Chapter believes it is vitally important that our legacy be maintained, nurtured and preserved and it is our responsibility to shape the public’s perception of who we are as a people. Through the medium of film, filmmakers of African descent document and relay the stories of our past, present, and future. They have become the new historians –“preservers of our legacy.” The Brooklyn Chapter realizes that many societal misconceptions start with how we are portrayed in the media. To counteract the adverse portrayal of African Americans in the movies and media, the Brooklyn Chapter, in 2002, initiated Linkages: Women of African Descent Film Festival. By choosing and screening films that depict the positive linkages that women of African descent have to their families, neighborhoods and communities, the film festival is able to effectively influence peoples’ perceptions through the medium of film.

THE EVENT The Festival will take place Friday, June 1, 6 – 8 PM, the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Plaza & Saturday, June 2, 10 AM-6 PM, the Billie Holiday Theater, Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corp, 1368 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY 11216.

GENERAL RULES & SUBMISSION GUIDELINES All films must be produced, written or directed by a female filmmaker of African descent, must have been completed on or after June 1, 2013, and must be no longer than 1 hour at most in length. Jurors Choice Awards and stipends will be presented to the participating filmmakers. Submission deadline is Friday, March 30, 2018.
Filmmakers are encouraged to submit a digital and/or online version of their films in a format such as AVI, FLV, WMV, MP4, MOV, QT, WMV, AVCHD, FLV, H.264, or DivX. More prizes will be announced!

This year’s theme will be DARKNESS. Celebrating our 13th year, this theme will be at the forefront in our decision making. Having said that, we will absolutely accept your comedy, light-hearted, inspiring films as we will be programming several spots that are not dedicated to the DARKNESS theme.

DARKNESS can be many things. Dark comedy, drama, lore, animation style, genre, horror, thriller, web pilot, subject matter for a documentary.

The festival is as diverse as our alumni, who come from over 50 countries around the world. Filmmakers globally are looking to the Hamilton Film Festival as an accessible event with multiple chances to screen, network, win awards and gain post-festival promotion as our Alumni is our family and your movie never has a shelf life with us! You’d be surprised how much we remember about you and your film even from our earliest screenings!

We will also be dedicating a screening to WEBISODE PILOTS. With the increase in webisodes, and the eyes looking for new content, we will accept your pilot (or episode of your choosing) to highlight! (Did you see the quote at the top? That was a webisode they saw)

We want you to think about disability and film. Specifically we want you to consider the people who are hard of hearing or Deaf. These people want to watch your films!

The Hamilton Film Festival is offering a submission discount to films that have English subtitles. Yes, even for English-language films.

If your film has (or will have) subtitles please reach out to us prior to submitting and we will offer you a discount code which will apply to both the Hamilton Film Festival screenings and the Canadian Film Market. Contact us directly for the code.

We receive between 400 - 700 films, typically screening around 150 of them, so if your film is good…so are the odds!

We are a festival that is very proud of screening films made by all filmmakers, regardless of gender or race. Everyone has a chance!

We are proud to offer, for the third year, the Canadian Film Market which runs the final weekend of the festival and will include Industry Development events, quality networking, pitches and more! Dozens of countries have participated. You should too!

Guillermo Del Toro love’s our city and say’s he’s been watching it since the 90’s and would like to set up his own studio here. Hamilton, Ontario, Canada is a major destination for film and television productions. Shows like The Handmaid’s Tale, The Shape of Water, Spotlight, Crimson Peak, Suicide Squad, The Hulk and Robocop are just a few films that have taken advantage of Hamilton’s many incredible locations. Producers love the additional tax credits, Directors love the “anywhere is here” look of the city, and people love seeing it on screen! You will also have the opportunity to meet with the people who run the film office, should you wish to film in our great city!.

Filmmakers around the world are choosing the Hamilton Film Festival as a required stop, and we want YOU to be a part of this growing scene that is on the verge of expanding into a not-so-hidden gem! See you, and your film, in Hamilton this November!

Hailed by The Wall Street Journal as an event that New Yorkers are “taking note of,” and with coverage in major media including The New York Times, The Huffington Post and Time Out New York, Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema returns this year year, taking place from August 3 to August 12, 2018.

Offering over $15,000 in prizes, Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema is honored to partner with a variety of local and international sponsors, including SAG-AFTRA, IndiePix Films, Soundview Media Partners, Seed & Spark, The Acting Studio NYC, Yelp and Big City Graphics. Audience choice and winners of Best Feature and Best Short categories will each receive a distribution offer from IndiePix Films. Other awards include an InkTip Script Listing to promote themselves and their scripts to InkTip’s entire network of producers, managers, and agents; a sales consultation by Soundview Media Partners; a subscription to iPitch.tv; and full writing software provided by WriterDuet, along with other sponsored prizes. Plus, every filmmaker that submits their film(s) will automatically receive a 1 year subscription to Videomaker.com, a leading subscription service that focuses on guiding independent filmmakers with online tutorials and publications (a $20 value).

The Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema is a non-profit organization established to support the development of Independent Filmmakers and help expand the audiences of independent cinema from around the globe. Founded by four local independent filmmakers with a passion to get movies made and to have those artistic voices heard. Understanding the struggle in todays film environment to showcase truly independent cinema, their goal is to establish a presence and awareness of cinematic creativity throughout Kew Gardens Queens, NYC and neighboring communities.

Granting incredible exposure to fantastic filmmakers, KGFC Film Fest is quickly becoming the festival to have your film recognized. Our first year received 400 submissions, both feature and short length films from around the world, of which 157 were carefully selected. Two feature films received a third party distribution deal, while two other feature films earned the attention of independent film distributors in Los Angeles, leading to acquisition interest.

KGFC promises to offer as many promotional opportunities to our filmmakers by allowing them to participate on the KGFC Festival Talks Daily Podcasts. KGFC Film Fest also invites selected filmmakers to participate on their independent filmmakers panels, and works to get as much press coverage for all the films as possible. (our 2017 festival saw over 30 films being featured in numerous media coverage across Queens and NYC!) Because our festival takes place in a small town, we offer filmmakers a more intimate experience, allowing them to network with their audience and their peers, plus the Festival staff will be hard at work promoting every film that gets accepted, to ensure that audiences attend your screening.

Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema accepts all lengths and genres, so we encourage filmmakers from around the globe to submit their work for a chance to have it screened at The Kew Gardens Cinema. Built in the 1930's, it is Queens, New Yorks oldest and only operating Art House Movie Theater, and at Queens Museum in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. This Year, KGFC Film Fest is expanding their festival presentations to include music videos and web-series!

New this year, all selected films will be converted to DCP by the festival, at no cost to the filmmaker, for optimal viewing quality. Filmmakers will then have the opportunity to purchase the DCP at an incredibly discounted rate. In addition, all filmmakers who submit a film will have the opportunity to purchase a DCP conversion of their film at the same discounted rate, regardless whether or not their film is selected.

You can rest assured that all submitted films are watched in their entirety by our programmers, which we know is a major concern when it comes to choosing which festival to submit to. Along with our daily screenings, we host intimate panel conversations with independent filmmakers, producers, distributors and sales agents. Something many festivals often overlook. You can expect red carpet premieres and familiar faces.

Finally, we want this to be an amazing experience for everyone that attends - so expect to have activities such as Karaoke, Movie Trivia night, Comedy Night, Outdoor Screenings and After Parties hosted by our wonderful sponsors!

The Melbourne International Cinema Extravaganza M.I.C.E. aims to be one of Melbourne's leading cinema extravaganza, raising awareness and celebrating these wonderful totem animals- Mice.

It will attract filmmakers from all around the world and celebrate their brilliant creations. With a strong focus on all the millions of life saving mice who sacrifice their lives to the research and study of terminal illnesses/cancer world wide.

It is a unique platform for new talent and a celebration of cinematic creativity, innovation and extravagance with artists new creations being judged right here in Melbourne City.

Films with a focus on terminal illness will be welcomed to help, educate, raise awareness, and bring hope to all the sufferers and families.
Art, Music and Film is a dynamic, healing way to help sufferers and their families as well as entertain all those who come along to this wonderful celebration.

A celebration that will engage, entertain, enlighten and bring together local and International films and give recognition to these wonderful, remarkable, brave little animals with a big, corageous heart.

“I came up with this film festival idea whilst at my screening of my first film in my trilogy, FATE-It is what it is! This was at the 2013 New York City Independent Film Festival, in Time Square. New York is filled with masses of people running in all directions- like mice! Very similar to Mice in cages of scientific research and health trials. These humans were like mice, all going somewhere, doing something and 95% of them chasing their own creation and creativity. And almost 50% having suffered or been scared with terminal illness at some point in their lives. I came back to Melbourne city and saw the same thing. We are all mice and these amazing totem animals of this festival have such a significance to our lives. They are life-saving!
I want this festival to begin to bring awareness just to how lucky we are to have mice in our life and celebrate their existence in a Melbourne International Cinema Extravaganza- MICE.
It was the beginnings of creating brilliance. Don't wait – Create! And we shall do just that with all the amazing courage of all of us working as a team of creative little mice, exhibiting dynamic, wonderful, International films and in turn celebrate the life-saving mice!”
R Lobosco.

The Different Faces, Different Voices Film Festival (DFDV) invites filmmakers from around the globe to tell the stories that often go untold in current cinema and television AND to showcase them at our fest.

Intended as both a festival and a laboratory, where workshops, panels and screenings occur, DFDV seeks films based on innovative storytelling and authentic and original characters that serve to tear down stereotyping and prejudice.

In 2016, the fest launched with its first contest - "Flicks4Chicks" which awarded over 20 unique prizes & thousands of dollars to winning filmmakers. In 2018 the festival expands, adding four new categories of submissions under its "Casting A Light" challenge. These include calls for both narrative and documentary shorts and longer format. See www.difffacediffvox.org for details.

The fest is run by Harvard Square Script Writers of Newton, MA., a 501 (c) 3 which is celebrating its 31st year in existence. The festival will be held in various venues in both Cambridge & Boston, including the historic Brattle Theater. Queries about the fest can be sent to admin@hsswriters.com.
