OUR MISSION

We focus on the ARTIST, on the STORY and on building an international COMMUNITY of inspiring storytellers.

Our passion is to tell great stories.
ONE OF THE TOP UK FILM FESTIVALS TO KNOW ABOUT!

NRFF was featured recently in the London METRO’s list of TOP UK FILM FESTIVALS among some very distinguished company, including Raindance and Aesthetica.

As of September 2016, we were ranked in the top 100 best reviewed film festivals on Film Freeway.

We have been privileged to screen world and UK premiers at our festival that went on to be nominated for the Oscars! We have also found that filmmakers, screenwriters and actors create new projects from meeting each other at the festival.

2018 will be our third year in London, a city known for its diversity and innovation in the creative arts. We will screen around 120 narrative shorts, documentaries, animations and music videos over the course of the festival, finishing with an AWARDS CEREMONY.
Running alongside the festival will be a SCREENWRITING COMPETITION and a series of MASTERCLASSES by film industry experts, a filmmaker's PANEL DISCUSSION, Filmmaker Q&A's, and other networking opportunities.

Hailed by The Wall Street Journal as an event that New Yorkers are “taking note of,” and with coverage in major media including The New York Times, The Huffington Post and Time Out New York, Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema returns this year year, taking place from August 3 to August 12, 2018.

Offering over $15,000 in prizes, Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema is honored to partner with a variety of local and international sponsors, including SAG-AFTRA, IndiePix Films, Soundview Media Partners, Seed & Spark, The Acting Studio NYC, Yelp and Big City Graphics. Audience choice and winners of Best Feature and Best Short categories will each receive a distribution offer from IndiePix Films. Other awards include an InkTip Script Listing to promote themselves and their scripts to InkTip’s entire network of producers, managers, and agents; a sales consultation by Soundview Media Partners; a subscription to iPitch.tv; and full writing software provided by WriterDuet, along with other sponsored prizes. Plus, every filmmaker that submits their film(s) will automatically receive a 1 year subscription to Videomaker.com, a leading subscription service that focuses on guiding independent filmmakers with online tutorials and publications (a $20 value).

The Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema is a non-profit organization established to support the development of Independent Filmmakers and help expand the audiences of independent cinema from around the globe. Founded by four local independent filmmakers with a passion to get movies made and to have those artistic voices heard. Understanding the struggle in todays film environment to showcase truly independent cinema, their goal is to establish a presence and awareness of cinematic creativity throughout Kew Gardens Queens, NYC and neighboring communities.

Granting incredible exposure to fantastic filmmakers, KGFC Film Fest is quickly becoming the festival to have your film recognized. Our first year received 400 submissions, both feature and short length films from around the world, of which 157 were carefully selected. Two feature films received a third party distribution deal, while two other feature films earned the attention of independent film distributors in Los Angeles, leading to acquisition interest.

KGFC promises to offer as many promotional opportunities to our filmmakers by allowing them to participate on the KGFC Festival Talks Daily Podcasts. KGFC Film Fest also invites selected filmmakers to participate on their independent filmmakers panels, and works to get as much press coverage for all the films as possible. (our 2017 festival saw over 30 films being featured in numerous media coverage across Queens and NYC!) Because our festival takes place in a small town, we offer filmmakers a more intimate experience, allowing them to network with their audience and their peers, plus the Festival staff will be hard at work promoting every film that gets accepted, to ensure that audiences attend your screening.

Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema accepts all lengths and genres, so we encourage filmmakers from around the globe to submit their work for a chance to have it screened at The Kew Gardens Cinema. Built in the 1930's, it is Queens, New Yorks oldest and only operating Art House Movie Theater, and at Queens Museum in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. This Year, KGFC Film Fest is expanding their festival presentations to include music videos and web-series!

New this year, all selected films will be converted to DCP by the festival, at no cost to the filmmaker, for optimal viewing quality. Filmmakers will then have the opportunity to purchase the DCP at an incredibly discounted rate. In addition, all filmmakers who submit a film will have the opportunity to purchase a DCP conversion of their film at the same discounted rate, regardless whether or not their film is selected.

You can rest assured that all submitted films are watched in their entirety by our programmers, which we know is a major concern when it comes to choosing which festival to submit to. Along with our daily screenings, we host intimate panel conversations with independent filmmakers, producers, distributors and sales agents. Something many festivals often overlook. You can expect red carpet premieres and familiar faces.

Finally, we want this to be an amazing experience for everyone that attends - so expect to have activities such as Karaoke, Movie Trivia night, Comedy Night, Outdoor Screenings and After Parties hosted by our wonderful sponsors!

Each trophy is handmade and signed by Tony himself.

Sponsored in part by ShortsTV, the world's largest distributor of short films, all submitted and accepted short films have the chance for worldwide broadcast deals on their cable channel, ShortsTV, which plays Oscar winning short films all over the globe. Screenplay winners will also compete to win scriptwriting software from FinalDraft as well as free listings on InkTip, where producers go for scripts and writers. Producers have made more than 300 films from scripts and writers they found through InkTip.

The Melbourne International Cinema Extravaganza M.I.C.E. aims to be one of Melbourne's leading cinema extravaganza, raising awareness and celebrating these wonderful totem animals- Mice.

It will attract filmmakers from all around the world and celebrate their brilliant creations. With a strong focus on all the millions of life saving mice who sacrifice their lives to the research and study of terminal illnesses/cancer world wide.

It is a unique platform for new talent and a celebration of cinematic creativity, innovation and extravagance with artists new creations being judged right here in Melbourne City.

Films with a focus on terminal illness will be welcomed to help, educate, raise awareness, and bring hope to all the sufferers and families.
Art, Music and Film is a dynamic, healing way to help sufferers and their families as well as entertain all those who come along to this wonderful celebration.

A celebration that will engage, entertain, enlighten and bring together local and International films and give recognition to these wonderful, remarkable, brave little animals with a big, corageous heart.

“I came up with this film festival idea whilst at my screening of my first film in my trilogy, FATE-It is what it is! This was at the 2013 New York City Independent Film Festival, in Time Square. New York is filled with masses of people running in all directions- like mice! Very similar to Mice in cages of scientific research and health trials. These humans were like mice, all going somewhere, doing something and 95% of them chasing their own creation and creativity. And almost 50% having suffered or been scared with terminal illness at some point in their lives. I came back to Melbourne city and saw the same thing. We are all mice and these amazing totem animals of this festival have such a significance to our lives. They are life-saving!
I want this festival to begin to bring awareness just to how lucky we are to have mice in our life and celebrate their existence in a Melbourne International Cinema Extravaganza- MICE.
It was the beginnings of creating brilliance. Don't wait – Create! And we shall do just that with all the amazing courage of all of us working as a team of creative little mice, exhibiting dynamic, wonderful, International films and in turn celebrate the life-saving mice!”
R Lobosco.
Creator/Director of MICE Festival.
