UK based scribe BJ Malone has obtained a writing assignment on an untitled Sci-Fi project for Tom Berry of LA based Reel One Entertainment. Roma Roth of Reel World Management found BJ on our site when scouting for literary talent. Roma then introduced BJ to Tom and thereby secured a writing assignment for BJ. Reel World Management is owned by managing partner and president, Roma Roth ('Viva Los Nowhere', 'One Last Dance'). Reel One Entertainment is headed by Tom Berry ('Screamers', 'The Assignment'). Reel One Entertainment executive produces 8-10 films per year and is a partner in the foreign sales company, Imagination Worldwide, with its chairman, Pierre David. In addition to gaining representation and a writing assignment, BJ recently optioned another script to a UK based production company (not through InkTip).

Stephen Manuel has optioned the comedy script 'Lucky Teeter' by Jason Allen, which was found through our network. Stephen Manuel is an independent director based in Germany with numerous credits in international TV, film, commercials and short films. Last January, 'Lucky Teeter' won first place in the Tennessee Screenwriting Association National Screenplay Contest. This is his fourth script optioned in the past two years, and two of those option deals came by way of our network.

Sheldon Brigman of Brigman-Vergos Productions has optioned Bart Clithero's screenplay 'Five Days', which he discovered while scouting InkTip.com. Sheldon (a former development executive turned producer) and his partner Bill Vergos just set up a feature with Cheyenne (Arnold Rifkin & Bruce Willis' company) and Beacon Pictures. Bill recently produced an indie feature starring Maria Menounos, who is set to join the cast of Fox's 'The Fantastic Four'. They'll be going out to the studios with the project and a few others in the first quarter of 2005. This is Bart's 3rd screenplay optioned in the last 10 months.

John Poague of Capital Film Studios LLC found Barbara Kymlicka through InkTip and has hired her to write a screenplay based on a story idea of his. John recently produced 'The Wickeds' by David Zagorski, which he found on InkTip, and has produced several other films including: 'Annie's Garden', 'In the Name of Justice' and 'Hoodwinked'. Barbara has been hired to write a number of screenplays and optioned several more over the last 2 years. In the last couple of months, she had her first feature, 'Killer Bash', produced. She was hired to write that script by David Decoteau, who found her on InkTip.

Carl has now optioned the script and is working on getting it produced. Matthew has directed the feature film 'Draining Lizards', shot a TV pilot and quite a few shorts including: 'Shopping For Slugs', 'Sex, Drugs and HIV', and 'Money Trouble'. In less than 24 hours after Kraig Wenman posted 'Phobia' on InkTip, it was discovered and optioned by Max Gottlieb of Exclusive Pictures. Max produced and directed 'Raising the Heights' and has other credits listed on IMDB.com. Kraig recently saw his screenplay 'Intermedio' (see IMDB.com) produced and has optioned or been hired to write more than a dozen scripts within the last 2 years.

Ariel Ciudano of Acrobatic Entertainment found 'The Romeos' by Paul Longo through our network and is now representing Paul for this screenplay. Ariel is actively working on setting this script up around town. Ariel Ciudadano is a literary manager formerly from Michael Ovitz's Artists Management Group, where he served as a literary manager as well as in feature packaging. David originally read 'Scorned' (another script Monicad had listed on our site) and though that script didn't meet his needs, he really liked the writing and asked Monica if she had anything else. In February we mentioned that Richard Breese has worked out an agreement with Michael Moody (US rep for Niolan Entertainment in Belgium) to write a 3D cartoon animation series for Niolan. Richard wrote 12 of them and they are now in production on it!

In March, Michael McCaffrey of Woman Lake Pictures optioned the short script 'Cabin #6' from Mark McCann. Cabin #6 just finished production and is now in post. Michael has shot dozens of shorts and videos, including 'Pearl Harbor: The Survivors' Story', a 27-minute documentary airing on PBS.

I want to report that RIVER RATS, the family film co-written by Cindy Parrish and Dan Hall of VMS, Inc. (after hooking up with him through InkTip) had its theatrical premiere last week in Indianapolis (where the film was shot). Mainline Distribution already has it out on DVD in the foreign markets and will begin distributing it in the U.S. soon. In February 2005 it will air on Showtime.

It was Exec Produced by Cale Boyter ('Elf,' 'Dumb and Dumber-er,' and 'The Butterfly Effect). It co-stars Richard Moll (who played Bull on the hit series 'Night Court').

It was produced by partnered companies Shavick Ent./Insight Film & Video/Regent Entertainment and directed by David DeCoteau. David found Barbara on InkTip.com and is so pleased with her writing that he is also working on other projects with her. This is the first film Barbara has had produced. She also has recently optioned a number of scripts and is involved in other collaborations with producers.

After seeing some of Kraig's scripts on InkTip.com, studio exec Michael Southerly hired Kraig Wenman to rewrite a supernatural horror script called 'The Night'. Kraig is doing quite well. In the last 18 months, he has had 8 scripts optioned (most through InkTip). One of them is with Gold Circle ('My Big Fat Greek Wedding') and another of his screenplays, 'El Intermedio' (also found through InkTip), was just produced. Frank Reilly sold his short, 'The Patron', to Pamela Wei Endrina of Red Tiger Films and is in pre-production in San Francisco with Australian Wendy Nye set to direct. Frank is previously optioned and this is the second year in a row where one of his scripts has made it to the semi-finals in the Nicholls Fellow in Screenwriting competition. Red Tiger Productions is based in the Asia/Pacific region, specifically Australia and China. Frank's script will be their first US production.

Neila Petrick has gained representation with Jeff Johnson of Canyon Rock Entertainment. This was from our newsletter, quite a while back, announcing that Lee Levinson was looking for a specific type of script. Si Dunn was assisting Lee with which stories seemed to be a fit. Ultimately, the script went to Hallmark, but was passed on. Then Si referred the script to Jeff Johnson and Neila now has representation. Neila has one published novel and a children's book in book stores now: Jane Wilkinson Long: Texas Pioneer.

Forrest comes from a theatrical background having written for theater in both San Francisco and Amsterdam. Mickey has directed several hundred commercials and the TV show (The Michaels Arts & Crafts Show on the Lifetime Network). Charlie's career began in photography and has branched out into video production in the last several years and is one of the founders of One Audition Too Many.

Martin Brennan of Heaven's Gate Films has optioned Aimee Lamb's screenplay 'Promises Kept'. Brennan spent a few years working as an assistant director on various feature films, shorts and commercials in Ireland. He currently has several short film scripts that he is looking to shoot over the next year in order to develop their show reel and help them move into feature productions. Martin has just finished directing Bernard Michael's short film 'Soldier', that was funded by the Northern Ireland Film & Television Commission through a Belfast- based production company, Underdog, and produced by Barry Keil.

Rachel Belofsky of Candyhearts Productions and Stefanie Epstein of Stefanie Epstein Productions optioned 'You're Invited…' from scribe Jennifer Barrow. Jennifer is a produced TV writer, having written for the following series: 'Crab Cove', 'Earth: Final Conflict' and 'Muppets Tonight!'. More info on some of her credits can be seen on IMDB.com. Rachel produced the acclaimed documentary 'Fast Women' (about women in racing) which has aired nationally on TV in both the US and Canada. Another project she is in development on is 'When the Dead Whisper' by Kraig X Wenman. The script was found through our site by director James Quattrochi ('Jesus, Mary and Joey'). A Happy Place ('On the Line') and Gold Circle Films (My Big Fat Greek Wedding', 'The Man From Elysian Fields') are attached to produce. Credits for Stephanie Epstein Productions include: 'Abduction of Innocence', 'The Best Day', 'What Men Want Most', 'Postal Police', 'Audrey's Rain' and 'A Boyfriend for Christmas'.

Charles Hall & Jeremy Crow optioned their script 'The Source' to Peter Glover of Glover Productions. The deal was negotiated by Barry Cleaver of Siskind, Cromarty, Ivey & Dowler LLP. Financing and a casting director are in place and production will begin later this year. This will be Peter's first feature production. His credits include: 'Talk of The Town' (1 hr.) and 'R & R Live', (13 1/2 hr. episodes). Charles co-wrote another script, 'Messengers' with, Adam MacLean & Ryan Neill, which was found through our network and produced last year.

Eric Stacey of Landfall Productions optioned 'Blocked' from Jeana Hackman Grady. Eric recently produced and directed 'Director's Cut: A Killer Comedy', by Brennan Jones, which he found through our network. It comes out on video at the end of March! We look forward to Jeana's script also getting produced. The deal was brokered by Lenny Minelli of A Picture Of You Literary Agency.

Max Goldenson and George Sealy of MWG Productions have optioned the script 'For Bitter or Worse' by Kraig X Wenman. MWG Productions is currently developing and producing 'Cynthia' with producer Howard Meltzer's Turtleback Productions. 'Cynthia' is the true story of one of WW II's most successful female spies, based upon the novel 'Cast No Shadow' by Mary S. Lovell. George Sealey recently joined MWG Productions as a producer and head of development from Tony Danza's Sony-based Katie Face Productions, where he was Vice President of Development. During his tenure, he developed and sold several television series and movies to the networks and Sony Pictures Television. He has 'The Governor George Ryan Story', (written by Academy and Emmy Award winner Abby Mann), in development and slated for production in the fall at Showtime. Deborah Harry of Deborah Harry Talent brokered the deal.

Canadian producer Matthew Cervi of Mad Hat Productions optioned Barbara Kymlicka's script 'The Tutor'. Mad Hat Productions is a newly formed production company founded by writer/producer and USC film school grad Matthew Cervi. Mad Hat is currently developing several feature and TV projects.

Ann-Marie McHugh has purchased the short 'Departures' by Annalisa Hounsome. Ann-Marie is a NYC based director and producer, who won an Emmy for her documentary work about artists and musicians in Chicago for PBS. Her other film credits include 'The Ladies Room' and 'The Insomniac'. Annalisa and her writing partner previously optioned a feature film, which was a Nicholl Fellowship quarterfinalist. They are currently commissioned to write two feature scripts and have also written on commission for children's TV, the theatre and radio.

David Kohner-Zuckerman optioned the script 'What are the Chances' from Dahlia Welsh. David's credits include 'Chump Change' (about to be released by Miramax) and 'Catalina Trust'. He also has a movie (Tennessee PI) for Lifetime, starring Lauren Holly, which begins production in three weeks. This is Dahlia's first option; however, she was in the Walt Disney Sitcom Fellowship from 1997 to 1998.

Little Studio Films has optioned the thriller screenplay 'Rehabilitation' from screenwriter Angela Anagnostopoulos. Casting is in progress and the project is scheduled to go into pre-production on March 15th. Director Jim Becket, who recently directed the film 'Junior Pilot' for Green Entertainment (starring Mark Dacascos), is attached. 'Rehabilitation', a thriller in the vein of 'Black Widow', is about a deranged young woman who, under various assumed identities, checks herself into rehab centers of the rich and famous by faking drug addictions only to marry a variety of tycoons, rock-stars and trust fund men and then disposing of them through a drug overdose. Little Studio Films will handle the film's distribution representation. Little Studio Films recently produced and co executive produced the feature 'The Drone Virus' (www.dronevirusthemovie.com), a medical/high tech thriller directed by newcomer Damon O'Steen and starring Billy Wirth, Maeve Quinlan, Michael Ensign, Adrian Zmed, Barbara Niven and Philip Boyd. The picture is in postproduction. Angela Anagnostopoulos is represented by Alexia Melocchi of Little Studio Films and was found through our network.

Dianna Ippolito has gained representation with manager A. Rahman Yoba of GhettoSuburbia Entertainment for her script 'Racing To The Altar'. Yoba is currently developing and producing the urban dramedy 'Khaki Blues', an untitled dark comedy loosely based on the 1950 film 'Sunset' and is developing the urban musical entitled 'The Little People'. Yoba was co-writer (with his brother, actor Malik Yoba: 'New York Undercover', 'Bull') of the critically acclaimed musical stage play 'What's on the Hearts of Men,' which was nominated in five categories at the 2003 NAACP/Hollywood Theatre Awards.
Adam Lamas has also gained representation with manager A. Rahman Yoba of GhettoSuburbia Entertainment for his script 'Headless'. Adam Lamas' first feature film debuted at Slamdance Film Festival and enjoyed a long and critically successful life on the film circuit. The New York Times considered it one of the best of the festival and called it '...a gem...' Lamas also earned comparisons to Kurasawa and Bergman by critics at the Boston Phoenix, The Holland Sentinel and Atlanta's Creative Loafing.
