Joseph Nasser Hires Lyse Beck Dec 30, 2009
Joseph Nasser with the Nasser Entertainment Group hired Lyse Beck to pen a one-hour pilot after discovering one of her writing samples on InkTip. This is a particularly successful find for Joe because Lyse has since gone on to draft three other potential TV pilots for Nasser Entertainment since that initial hire. Joe Nasser already has a prolific list of credits on his resume including "What Goes Up" with Hilary Duff, and the recent "Courage" with Jason Priestly, which was written by a screenwriter discovered on InkTip. In fact, he just wrapped his latest feature "H2K," which stars Eric Roberts and Steve Austin. We're looking forward to announcing more projects in 2010.
Silver Bitela Agency Signs InkTip Scribe Dec 30, 2009
Babz Bitela, President of the Silver Bitela Agency (WGA/AFTRA), signed InkTip scribe Craig Clyde after discovering him on the site. This was a particularly marketable find for Babz because Craig Clyde already has 18 feature writing credits, and is also an established director with such films as "The Derby Stallion" (with Zac Efron) on his resume. And it's a good fit for Craig because, since coming to work at the former Ed Silver Agency, Babz has been able to turn what was a hard year for many agents into a banner year for her company and writers. So we expect 2010 will be an even better year for the Silver Bitela Agency.
John Porter Sells Short Dec 30, 2009
John Porter has reached another agreement with a producer/director on InkTip. He has signed an agreement with Naomi Mercer, who bought the rights to his short romance "It's Good to See You Again" that was discovered on InkTip. Naomi is an actor/director/produce/editor. She said, "I'm really excited about how John's script looks easy to execute with only two locations and two actors yet has the potential for some great moments. There's a range of them (my personal favorite being the deliciously awkward silent moments in his writing) for the actor, the director and the editor in me to sink my teeth into." She is also a full time voice-over actor.
Frederico Lapenda Hires InkTip Scribe Dec 23, 2009
Frederico Lapenda with Paradigm Pictures and Daniel Zirilli with Popart Film Factory are co-producing a feature MMA film titled "Merciless," and they've hired veteran InkTip scribe Glase Lomond to come on board as a writer. Zirilli discovered Glase Lomond on InkTip all the way back in 2004, and has since brought him on board a number of projects, including "Fast Girl" (which was featured on the cover of InkTip Magazine) and "Aces" (which was also featured on the cover of InkTip Magazine). Frederico Lapenda is considered a founding father of MMA, but he's also an award-winning producer with over a dozen feature film credits to his resume, including the classic MMA film "Smashing Machine" (starring former UFC champion Mark Coleman), and the upcoming "Hamill" (starring former UFC champion Rich Franklin). Because of Lapenda's status and connections in the MMA world, he has access to some of the most recognizable stars worldwide, and is actively working with them in their careers as they transition into the action stars of tomorrow. Of course we're hoping to feature "Merciless" on the cover some day as well.
Larry Levinson Productions Options "Cashmas" Dec 23, 2009
Tony Roman with Larry Levinson Productions optioned "Cashmas," a heartwarming holiday script, from InkTip writer Justin Eade. Such credits include 'Reading Room' (with James Earl Jones), 'Dead Man's Walk' (with Jennifer Garner), 'Gone But Not Forgotten' (with Scott Glenn and Brooke Shields), and 'Love Comes Softly' (with Katherine Heigl). Meanwhile Justin Eade has been writing in his native New Zealand for the last 15 years, working on television sitcoms and sketch comedy while also developing a portfolio of spec feature screenplays for the US market. "Cashmas" is a family-friendly Christmas comedy, precisely the sort of project Larry Levinson Productions excels at making, so we're excited to see Justin taking this next step in his writing career through InkTip.

Joseph Nasser Wraps "Courage" Dec 17, 2009
Joseph Nasser with the Nasser Entertainment Group completed production on "Courage," a feature film written by InkTip scribe Luiz Cruz, whom Nasser discovered on the site in 2007. We're always excited when we get to mention another completed Nasser Brothers film because Joe already had three dozen feature credits to his resume before he joined InkTip, and now the scripts he's been finding on InkTip are beginning to join his list of produced features. Some of these include "Christmas Crash" with Michael Madsen, "Desperate Hours" with Tom Berenger, and this latest project, "Courage," Starring Jason Priestly (Beverly Hills 90210) and Andrea Roth (Rescue Me). Luis Cruz was the first writer Nasser discovered on InkTip - in fact, Cruz was a co-writer on all three of the titles mentioned so far in this announcement - so when we say Nasser makes most of the scripts he finds on InkTip, we're sure Luis Cruz will agree. These first few credits helped Cruz land representation with a major management company as well, so his writing career is now well underway.
Michael D. Jones Options "Rotavele" Dec 17, 2009
Michael D. Jones with Silver Heart Productions has optioned "Rotavele" by InkTip scribes Lloyd S. Wagner and Bradford R. Youngs. He hired Wagner in 2008 and since then, they've co-written feature scripts, including "Rotavele," which agent Babz Bitela calls a "smart, highly entertaining work, [and] beyond cool." Babz, President of the Ed Silver Agency (WGA/AFTRA), was brought on board to help the team negotiate a series of offers, and her relentless efforts in dealings resulted in Wagner's first feature writing credit and Youngs being attached as director. She says, "It's exciting that they know we are out here reading and scouring the planet for them." She continues, "I read everything myself. And it's a real joy. Especially when the scripts are so solid. We may be in Northern California, but we operate as if we are on the 9000 block of Wilshire Blvd." We look forward to more collaborative projects between Wagner & Youngs and additional news brought forth by Babz.

ThunderBall Options InkTip Script Nov 19, 2009
Mario Domina with ThunderBall Films, LLC optioned "The House That Jack Built" by Margie Mack after discovering the script on the site. Her script tells the story of a murder and wrongful conviction in 1955 which permanently changed the face of politics and law enforcement in Chicago, and it's a particularly personal tale for her, because the real murderer - the one who escaped as someone else was imprisoned in his place - was Margie's father. Part of what got Mario interested in the project was a link in Margie's synopsis to a trailer developed for the film which helped him with the visuals of the story and era. Mario has a penchant for discovering and developing based-on-true stories; some of his other projects in development include "Escape from Paradise," a project based on Amazon's #1 Singaporean best seller for four consecutive years (where it was banned for political reasons), "The House of the Baskervilles," and "DragonMan," all three of which Mario discovered on InkTip. They look forward to the challenge and raising the bar for an exciting and entertaining project. Frazer is the writer/director of award-winning short horror films "On Edge" and "Red Lines," both starring Doug Bradley (Pinhead from "Hellraiser"). He also directed the commercial campaign for "True Horror with Anthony Head" (of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" fame) for Discovery Channel.
Joseph Nasser Hires Glenn Lindsey Oct 22, 2009
Joseph Nasser with the Nasser Entertainment Group has hired InkTip scribe Glenn Lindsey to pen an as-of-yet untitled 1-hour pilot after meeting him on the site. Nasser needed writers with original voices to help him fill an order for six pilots, and of course searching for writers in specific genres on InkTip is always easier than the old fashioned method of wading through query letters. Joe Nasser already has a prolific list of credits on his resume including over ten independent features produced or released in the last year alone. One of his recent titles includes "Christmas Crash," starring Michael Madsen (which was discovered on InkTip and featured on the cover of InkTip Magazine). A theatrically trained writer, this is Glenn Lindsey’s first hire through InkTip.

Mario Domina with ThunderBall Films, LLC discovered another script on InkTip recently. Titled "Me and a Gun," by Martin Jagodzinski, it’s the story of a young female journalist who’s kidnapped and held hostage in Rio de Janeiro while investigating a series of violent crimes. Interestingly enough, this was a script Mario had already read and optioned many years ago, but the option had lapsed – so when he saw it on InkTip last month, re-written, more commercial, better and ready to go – he contacted the writer and picked it up again. ThunderBall Films is currently in Pre-production on its feature indie project "The Beautiful Outsiders," with Corey Feldman attached, as well as "Empress of Ireland," a documentary feature.

In January 2010, with wedding season fully underway and tens of thousands of brides spending fortunes on dresses and services, a DVD about a couple’s nuptials being saved by a wedding videographer is like candy in the checkout aisle. If you'd like to order a copy of the film or submit a funny wedding video of your own to Serendipity Pictures' "The Funniest Wedding Video" contest (or apply to be a judge), look up "The Wedding Video" on Facebook.

According to Lockridge, "Morpheus" is a script that "meets the criteria we placed in our call for scripts with a small cast of rich characters, few locations, and touches on the important social issue of racism." The story deals with how an African-American prodigy athlete struggles to overcome racism and violence in the South during the early 1960's.

(Horror/thriller fans, look it up on Netflix and add it to your DVD queue!) Writer Troy Taylor is no stranger to the festival circuit; he won a free script listing on InkTip after winning the Gold Prize at the Page International Screenwriting Awards, and this year landed the Grand Prize in the Script PIMP Screenwriting Competition. Although this is his first option, we expect you'll be seeing his name again soon.
Joseph Nasser Hires Toby Osborne Oct 8, 2009
Joseph Nasser with the Nasser Entertainment Group has hired Toby Osborne to pen a one-hour pilot after discovering the writer on InkTip. Nasser needed writers with original voices to help him fill an order for six pilots, and since he's found and produced a number of projects off InkTip already, it was his logical first stop. Joe Nasser already has a prolific list of credits on his resume including over ten independent features produced or released in the last year alone. One of his recent titles includes "Christmas Crash," starring Michael Madsen ("Kill Bill," "Reservoir Dogs") and Alexandra Paul ("Baywatch Hawaii"). He went on to produce and direct the film with Rachel Miner and Mimi Rogers in the lead roles, and with the assistance of Graham Taylor at Endeavor Independent handling financing and distribution. Cain, whose work Mark discovered on InkTip late last year, to develop an entire series of films based on Cain's "Spooner Brothers Mystery Adventures" novels. There are four completed titles, with a fifth currently in the works. The Spooner Brothers Mystery Adventures originally started as a home school project nearly 20 years ago. Initiated by his wife Cyndi for their pre-teen sons, this franchise could probably best be pitched as "The Hardy Boys" meets "Indiana Jones" with a supernatural/fantasy thriller twist. And they were perfect for Mark Rodriguez ("No Rules" and "Payback"), who was looking for something for a family audience to take to his contacts. One of Mark's other projects well underway and in consideration with a major domestic cable network is "Dorsai," a sci-fi adventure series based on the classic best-selling novel (which was also discovered on InkTip).

Alexia Melocchi Reps InkTip Screenwriter Michael Eging Sep 24, 2009
Alexia Melocchi with Little Studio Films has discovered Michael Eging through InkTip. He initially queried her after seeing her name in the InkTip newsletter so many times, but her standard policy is to ask writers who are seeking representation whether they have a script on InkTip already because, frankly, it’s a lot easier to log in and view the script online than it is to reply to a query letter. So when he said yes, she checked out his work and realized he had the sort of material her clients were looking for. She quickly signed him and is now representing him as a manager. Alexia Melocchi is a Literary Manager and Producer and long-time InkTip fan who reps writers, directors and other producers. Her upcoming production credits include "Remember Their Names," which is to be directed by Mimi Leder (“The Peacemaker”), and "Stalking Simone Le Bon" which is to be directed by Jim Fall (“The Lizzie McGuire Movie”).
Brian Averill Discovers InkTip Scribe Patrick Hegarty Sep 17, 2009
Director Brian Averill discovered "Flower of Fire" by Patrick Hegarty on InkTip. His manager, Mark Heidelberger at Treasure Entertainment, summed up how easy it was: "Brian was simply browsing the InkTip site, liked the logline, saw the script had placed well in some contests, and once we determined it would be a good fit for Brian, we made contact with Patrick's manager at Madhouse Entertainment to do a deal." Some of Brian Averill's previous directing credits include Mainline Releasing's "Simple Revenge" and Lionsgate's "Ghetto Dawg." Patrick Hegarty, meanwhile, has worked as a video game writer for the past ten years, penning the scripts for such titles as "Ghostbusters," "Ratatouille," "Eragon," and many more. This is his first feature length spec script to gain a serious attachment, and we're excited as he and Brian work on getting this film made!

Robert has a heavy documentary and television background in Europe. This is Eric's first option.
Abrams Artists Reps David Lopresti Sep 10, 2009
Ron Gwiazda and Amy Wagner with the New York officeof Abrams Artists Agency have signed yet another InkTip writer! Amy tends to find the best writers on InkTip, but in this case, Amy was the one discovered on InkTip when manager Marcello Robinson, owner and CEO of 777 Entertainment Group, saw her name on the InkTip successes page. So he called InkTip, spoke with a Membership Executive about Abrams Artists' mandate, and arranged an introduction for his writer, David Lopresti. Amy Wagner is one of our favorite members, as you can no doubt tell from the 2-minute video featuring an animated version of her on the InkTip homepage. And Marcello Robinson, who’s been an InkTip member for many years now, has already discovered a bunch of talented writers on the site.
Jeff Belkin Signs Brant Hughes Sep 10, 2009
Jeff Belkin with Foremost Films has signed yet another writer from InkTip. The latest discovery is Canadian scribe Brant Hughes, whose scripts "Sheattle" and "Visceral" caught Belkin's eye. Jeff worked as a literary manager/director of development with Mad Hatter Films and then as a producer with Double Nickel Entertainment ("Gran Torino") before striking out on his own as a literary manager. He currently has a dozen client projects with the likes of Echo Lake, Humble Journey, Mandalay and others attached/packaging them. After being shopped around town and becoming one of the hottest specs out this spring, Hughes' "Visceral" has drawn the interest of two major production companies. However, "Sheattle" remains available.
Pacific Entertainment Group hire Mark Onspaugh Sep 10, 2009
Scott Thomas of Pacific Entertainment Group has hired one of his favorite writers, Mark Onspaugh, onto yet another project. Some of Scott’s other projects include the award-winning "Deranged," also known as "Anacardium," and "Double Indiana," a script he optioned through InkTip just recently. Interestingly enough, "Glass Fortress" wasn’t written by Mark Onspaugh, it was just a spec script Scott liked which needed the attention of a writer like Onspaugh. This is now officially Mark Onspaugh's sixth InkTip success.

Antibody Films Options Michael Brody and Jeff Kingery Script Sep 3, 2009
Jesse Lawler of Antibody Films optioned the feature sports script "NBA/MIA: The John Brisker Story" from InkTip scribes Michael Brody and Jeff Kingery after discovering it through the site. Jesse was impressed by the script's authenticity which is due in part to Kingery's "voice." For 11 years he was the play-by-play broadcaster for the Denver Nuggets and presently can be heard calling the action for the Colorado Rockies. The script is based on the life of pro basketball all-star John Brisker, who was blacklisted by the NBA, and who subsequently disappeared in Uganda under Idi Amin's rule. This sort of story is a natural next step for Jesse Lawler, who recently completed "Dead Air" with Corben Bernsen and who has been working his way up in budgets since starting Antibody Films four years ago. This is Michael Brody's second option through InkTip.
Maurice Davis Options "Palestine" Sep 3, 2009
Maurice Davis, an up-and-coming independent producer and proprietor of Burbank-based Maurice Davis Films, has optioned the feature historical script "Palestine" from InkTip writer Suzan Flamm, after discovering it on InkTip. Facé of Face2Face Productions has optioned the feature "Dumped" by Arturo Armando Cuellar after discovering it on InkTip. This is the first of two features optioned by Face2Face Productions. "Mormon Football" Enters Pre-production Sep 3, 2009
Andre' "Paradise" Jamison hired InkTip scribe CJ Johnson to co-write the feature script "Mormon Football," and the comedy is now in pre-production. Andre', whose standup comedy tour takes him around the four-corners and all states in between, including at the world-famous Laugh Factory in Los Angeles as well as appearing on B.E.T., is being featured in "Mormon Football." CJ, with Hiram Clarke Films in association with Cool Media Productions, also just completed filming a documentary called "From the Ghetto to the Country Club: The Story of Terry Awls," which profiles the first African-American General Manager of a private country club in Toledo, Ohio. Todd Grodnick Hires Writer Ginny Albert Aug 27, 2009
Todd Grodnick of Todd Grodnick Productions at Sunset-Gower Studios has hired scribe Ginny Albert after discovering her on InkTip. He first encountered Ginny's work after she had submitted a treatment version of "Which Man," her published, romantic suspense novel. Todd liked her writing style so much that it inspired his conception of the script "Written By." He then assigned Ginny to consult on the script development, which focuses on the subject of a person coping with being narcissistic against whom they really are. Ginny's advice to writers is to "continue believing in their product and that someday they will meet someone who has a similar vision."
Nelson Productions Inc Hires InkTip Scribe Linda Shayne Aug 27, 2009
John Nelson of Nelson Productions Inc has hired InkTip author Linda Shayne to pen the third and final feature film in his slate. His mandate was actually a little tough to fulfill; heading up a commercial production company with decades of experience and a recent bevy of shorts to his credit, John also happens to be the father of about three hundred talented kids, all of whom he wanted to cast in a feature which he'd direct and produce for a family audience. But then he joined InkTip where he discovered a bevy of writers with experience writing fantasy and family-friendly material, like Linda Shayne, who has written for Showtime, Disney, Quincy Jones' company QDE and the Kids Warner Brothers Network. This is Linda's third option through InkTip.

InkTip Feature Gains Attachments Aug 20, 2009
Christopher Sergi packaged a script he found on InkTip last year by writer Mark Daniels entitled "The Bystander Effect" and has now attached Elaine Hendrix and Darrin "Dewitt" Henson in the lead roles. Elaine last starred in this year's "Dear Lemon Lima," the 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival winner and "Rockslyde" and can be seen next in the supernatural fantasy film "Fading of The Cries." Darrin, who became known after a supporting role for five seasons on Showtime Network's "Soul Food," starred as football legend Jim Brown in 2008's "The Express" and just wrapped on 2009's popular video game franchise turned blockbuster film "Tekken." Chris optioned the script in 2008, then titled "Samaritan," and attached Angela Bettis to helm the supernatural thriller. Angela made her directorial debut on 2006's feature "Roman" (Kristen Bell) after becoming known as an actor in such roles as the eponymous "May" in the 2002 horror film. "The Bystander Effect" centers on an investigative reporter and detective who find themselves not only as spectators, but as participants in a curse they must try to stop. The project is currently seeking co-production partners, so please contact InkTip if you would like more information. Scribe Mark Daniels is currently experiencing much success after another script he optioned is also being cast for production this year.
Pacific Entertainment Group Options "Double Indiana" Aug 20, 2009
Scott Thomas of Pacific Entertainment Group has optioned "Double Indiana" by scribe David Keith Miller after discovering it on InkTip. Scott first read the script in 2002. After it was under option for several years to another producer, Scott picked up the script as soon as that deal expired and is planning to go to camera at the end of 2009. Scott last directed Pacific Entertainment Group and Imageworks Entertainment's "Flight of the Living Dead," co-written by InkTip scribe Mark Onspaugh and distributed by New Line Cinema as well as the award-winning "Deranged," also known as "Anacardium." David is a veteran writer who penned "Written in Blood" (Peter Coyote, Michael T. Weiss) and "Time Lapse" (Roy Scheider). What inspired "Double Indiana" was a question David asked himself: "What if Quentin Tarantino had written 'Waiting for Godot?'" According to David, what he ended up with was "neither Tarantino nor Beckett, but it was a hell of a lot of fun to write trying to answer that question."
Tainted Films Options InkTip Scribe's Script Aug 20, 2009
Producer/Director Carlos Ramos Jr. and Executive Producer Carlton Hickman ("Blood Night") of Tainted Films have optioned "Don't Even Try to Kill Katie Malone" by InkTip writer Mark Onspaugh. Mark is no stranger to many InkTip members; his name often appears in the InkTip announcements due to optioning several scripts in the past year. He co-wrote the 2007 zombedy classic, "Flight of the Living Dead," which was distributed by New Line Cinema.

They are currently in postproduction. This isn't Gary's first success through InkTip. He had optioned another short to Showbiz Shorts in 2007. Duchess Productions Options InkTip Scribe's Script Aug 13, 2009
Ian Hay of Duchess Productions optioned the feature script "Big Weiner" from InkTip scribe BD Young after discovering him on InkTip. Ian actually discovered BD Young on InkTip many years ago after discovering his comedy script, "Pot Scrubbers," and their relationship led to Ian now optioning the romantic comedy script, "Big Weiner," with Jerry Cicorritti at the helm. InkTip's entire raison d'etre is connecting producers with writers - not just scripts - so we're always happy to announce a new deal in an ongoing relationship. And this is actually BD's fifteenth option through InkTip, so at this rate, we won't be surprised if he runs out of spec scripts to pitch as writing samples.

This is actually Sheri’s third project with James Axiotis, who specializes in TV MOWs. But what makes this particular announcement so exciting is the fact that one of Sheri’s other projects, “Beautifully Cruel” withTony Picciotti of Any 5 Films, went to camera just a week ago. So Sheri currently has two projects which were found on InkTip in production this month.

As a tribute to John’s solid writing, Rob decided to hire him to write a fresh, original script instead. Capital Arts is a 15-year-old production company that is currently producing two DTV sequels ("American Pie - Book of Love" and "Smokin Aces: Blowback") for Universal. Recent theatrical releases include "The Cookout," "The Prince and Me," "Happy Endings," "The Devil's Rejects," "War," "Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married," "Tyler's Perry's The Family That Preys," "Perfect Holiday," "Diary of a Mad Black Woman," "My Best Friend's Girl," and "The Eye." InkTip Writer Hired by Capital Arts May 14, 2009
Rob Kerchner of Capital Arts has hired InkTip scribe Jane Turville to pen a script after discovering her on InkTip. Capital Arts is a 15-year-old production company that is currently producing two DTV sequels ("American Pie - Book of Love" and "Smokin Aces: Blowback") for Universal. Recent theatrical releases include "The Cookout," "The Prince and Me," "Happy Endings," "The Devil's Rejects," "War," "Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married," "Tyler's Perry's The Family That Preys," "Perfect Holiday," "Diary of a Mad Black Woman," "My Best Friend's Girl" and "The Eye." Although she’s had a couple short films produced, a couple of independently optioned feature scripts and has been hired as a writer onto a couple other projects, this is her first “Hollywood” option at the studio-level. While describing “Tormentor,” a thriller with sci-fi elements, Breanne related the following: “It involves time travel but it’s actually a rather simple and straightforward story. It raises questions about life and death that I don’t think any movie of its type has ever done before…” Congratulations to Breanne Mattson!
Winkler Films Discovers InkTip Scribe May 14, 2009
David Winkler with Winkler Films discovered InkTip writer Steve Spencer and has partnered with him to pen an as-of-yet untitled feature script. David Winkler is an industry veteran with credits like “Finding Graceland” (starring Harvey Keitel and Gretchen Mol) and “Rocky Balboa” (Sylvester Stallone) to his resume. Steve Spencer related the following story about getting discovered: “Having come this close to selling a script last year -- primarily due to the exposure of InkTip -- I lowered my head and started working on new stories. I narrowed my potential scripts from a dozen down to one. Hours and hours of work gave me a better concept, fleshed out characters and a solid outline. I circled the calendar: I'd start in on the actual page by page script that next Monday morning. Unfortunately, on Monday I got a call from an established producer who'd read a script of mine on InkTip, loved it, and proposed that we write a script together based on an idea he'd developed.” A graduate of USC, Steve Spencer has optioned two scripts, been commissioned to write a draft for a director and has done uncredited rewrites on a studio feature.

Page Four Productions is a relative newcomer to the production community with several television and film projects already in development. After its successful run, Mark expanded the script into a feature-length version, which he referred Sam to read on InkTip. This is Mark’s fifth option. He remarked that “if it weren’t for InkTip, I wouldn’t have had my short film produced and wouldn’t have had the opportunity to have my feature-length script optioned.”
Kathy Muraviov Discovers Another InkTip Scribe Apr 30, 2009
Kathy Muraviov with The Muraviov Company discovered InkTip writer Brian Hill and is now representing him. Muraviov, a veteran of Universal Studios, now runs a boutique literary management company in LA. She's discovered some of the best and brightest up-and-coming writers on InkTip. Her most recent InkTip-sourced sale was for "Tight," a character-driven heist script that is set up at Foxy Films. Kathy has continually found clients on InkTip. Just last week, Kathy was in our news for signing another InkTip scribe. According to Hill, a frequent contest-finalist screenwriter and author of international-selling books, most new writers don’t realize that “honing your pitching skills is just as important as honing your screenwriting skills. That’s another reason why InkTip is so helpful for writers,” he continued. “You get the opportunity to tweak your logline and synopsis as you go along, and measure whether your pitch is getting through to the target audience by how many viewings your script receives." The script by Brian that caught Kathy’s eye, “Dog Magic," is a life-affirming, “magical” drama about a remarkable golden retriever named “Magic” who helps a young man rebuild his life after a series of devastating setbacks.
Walla Films Options InkTip Scribe's Books Apr 30, 2009

Farnaz’s upcoming “Magic Land” centers on two Iranian brothers who are thrown into a maelstrom of kidnapping, gunplay, car chases and mistaken identity in Washington D.C.
Jeffrey Michael Bays to Direct InkTip Scribe's Script Apr 30, 2009
Jeffrey Michael Bays is set to direct “All Sorts of People” by Corey Druskin after discovering it on InkTip. After reading in an August InkTip newsletter that another of Corey’s scripts called “This is My Choice” was optioned, he read the accompanying logline and script for “All Sorts of People” and fell in love with it. They agreed to a deal and eventually producer Tim Purcell of Complete Access Films LTD optioned it. Jeff previously directed “Offing David,” an Australian homage to Hitchcock. He is currently working on developing the feature film version of his own award-winning radio play about corporate greed titled “Not from Space.” He says, “Corey has such a visual sense of writing and a lucid construction of narrative; it truly moved me from start to finish.” He added, “I’m sure you’ll be seeing more scripts from him.” This is Corey’s second option through InkTip.

Sterling, who has a strong background in espionage-themed film, also has experience working with kids and teens, which is perfect for this family-friendly project. Current plans are to extend the series beyond the internet and big screen to adapt it for television and the literary world, including comics and graphic novels. Gigi Garner Options InkTip Scribes Script Apr 16, 2009
Despite having an incredibly specific mandate (high-concept action/adventure romance script with Asian content) producer Gigi Garner found exactly what she was looking for as soon as she read first-time screenwriter Louis Stannard's "China Diaries." Ms. Garner immediately optioned Stannard's screenplay, which is adapted from his novel of the same title. The unique story is based on historical fiction and revolves around a man who discovers his mother's journal 50 years later and how he finally learns of her noble efforts to save her family in China right before WWII. Karen Buckton Gains Representation Through InkTip Apr 16, 2009
Alexia Melocchi with Little Studio Films discovered Karen Buckton's comedy script "Three False Alarms" through InkTip. The relationship started out interestingly enough; although Alexia liked the pitch, she felt the story wasn't quite ready, so she passed on it, while letting Karen know why. But the ever diligent writer, Karen treated the rejection like development notes and promptly re-wrote the screenplay, bringing it to exactly where Alexia felt it needed to be before taking it out. Then Alexia signed Karen as a client, and is now officially repping her. Alexia Melocchi is a Literary Manager and Producer and long-time InkTip fan who also reps writers, directors and other producers. Her up coming production credits include "Remember Their Names" which is to be directed by Mimi Leder (The Peacemaker) and "Stalking Simone Le Bon" which is to be directed by Jim Fall (The Lizzie McGuire movie).

Farnaz is currently hard at work on "Blue Moon" by InkTip writer Pol McShane and "Magic Land," a Crime/Drama project that is slated to move into production in 2010. If Lloyd Wagner's name sounds familiar, it might be because you've seen him in this newsletter a lot recently. In fact, he's had three options just this year alone, and has been hired by Twilight Entertainment as their development executive after being hired to co-write the feature "Rotavelle" for them in 2007.

Network staff writer, listed several screenplays on InkTip that garnered the interest of a number of InkTip producers. Eric then contacted Sylvia for more of her material, including “Achieving Happiness,” which he read and optioned almost immediately. Eric’s directorial debut in 1999, “Dreaming of Joseph Lees,” opened to critical acclaim and several awards. Based in the UK, he has directed many well known actors including Julie Andrews, Colin Firth, Melanie Griffith and Hugh Dancy. Jeff Ross Discovers InkTip Scribe Apr 9, 2009
Jeff Ross with Jeff Ross Entertainment Inc. discovered wordsmith Elisa Wolfe through our network, and is now officially representing her as a manager. This one actually came about in an interesting way; after Joe Simpson’s company Papa Joe Films optioned Elisa’s script “Gaydar Malfunction” through InkTip, CAA took the script out on their behalf to find co-producers. And although the option eventually expired, having this fact on her resume helped pique his interest. But what really convinced him was talking to the development executives who’d read the script and hearing how much they liked her writing. Jeff is a long-time industry veteran who reps TV and film writers, authors and directors, and whose client list includes the writer of “Wag the Dog,” the director of “A Diva’s Christmas Carol” with Vanessa Williams, and the Pulitzer Prize-nominated writer of “The Outfit.” This is Elisa Wolfe’s second success through InkTip.

Glase Lomond. Zirilli noted: "Bobby is a very fast and sharp writer; he is right on the edge of breaking into the big leagues." This is Bobby Mort’s third hire by Daniel Zirilli this year.
Trancas International Discovers Sci-Fi TV Pilot through InkTip Apr 2, 2009
Trancas International Films has discovered the sci-fi TV pilot “Jake in Flux” after putting a call out to our writers. If the name Trancas International rings a bell, it might be because you’ve seen it the eight films they produced for the “Halloween” franchise. But horror isn’t all they do. Trancas also has a pretty heavy slate of television projects in various stages of development. Of course, finding the right TV pilot can take some time. Vice President Sammy Montana described this process to us in an email recently: “We had trouble finding unoriginal ideas told in an original way for Sci-Fi pilots. This all changed when we found Jeff Reese's “Jake in Flux” on InkTip. We were very happy to find Jeff's script, and our Sr. VP was also very excited about it, so this one was a definite no brainer." And it was a good fit all around, according to Jeff Reese who stated, “You always hear the horror stories about writers pitching their projects to stone-faced pod people, but I have to say when I met with Bret and Sammy at Trancas, it was the most comfortable and positive experience ever. I really look forward to working with these guys.” This is the third InkTip-sourced project Trancas has begun since last summer. It’s also Reese’s second option.

Rik Walters and Harvey Lowry (of the upcoming “The Kentucky Fried Horror Show”) are producing the mystery/thriller pic.

Mark, a writer based in Houston, wrote “The Lost Tribe” (starring Lance Henriksen) which is slated for release this year. According to Mark, whose work is mainly in the horror genre, “Richard challenged [me] to push the bounds and apply my story-telling abilities to the Christian genre. The result was a fast-moving script that appeals to both the mainstream moviegoer while adhering thematically to Christian principles.” Richard has a heavy slate of upcoming pictures, including the highly-anticipated “Grinder” which is currently in pre-production.
Sarke Studios hires InkTip Scribe Lloyd Wagner Mar 26, 2009
Levan Bakhia with Sarke Studios has hired wordsmith Lloyd Wagner after discovering him on the site. Hailing from Tbilisi, Georgia, Levan is building a new slate of family-oriented films for the European market, and this latest hire is their second InkTip-sourced project this year. course, this isn’t Lloyd’s first InkTip success; when we asked him how he continued to get so much work, he replied: “I think this job, as well as the many other connections I have made via InkTip, speak for themselves. But I also cannot stress enough that writers should make themselves available to write for hire, because you never know where it might lead. So far, it has led to my being Head of Story Development with Twilight Entertainment and the deal with Sarke, which I am sure will open still more doors. Thanks to InkTip I am too busy writing to update my resume and website!”
InkTip Scribe Hired Yet Again Mar 26, 2009
Mark McNabb with Skylight Films has hired his favorite InkTip-sourced writer Barry Cowan to pen the feature screenplay “Home Alone on the Range.” This has actually been an on-going relationship between Skylight Films and Cowan, who was originally hired to write "Billy Owens and the Secret of the Runes," and who has since gone on to write four more feature scripts for Skylight Films, including “Ricky Lazio Jr., FBI,” the first InkTip-sourced 3-D feature writing assignment. This latest project, which is already in production and nearing the completion of principle photography, proves yet again that producers can find more than material on InkTip, they can find writers and build entire slates of films.
Pandora Machine Buys "Clonehunter" Mar 26, 2009
Andrew Bellware of Pandora Machine has acquired “Clonehunter” by InkTip scribe Eric Steele after discovering it on InkTip. Andrew founded the New York-based production company after working in every capacity on a number of feature films. Pandora, with the upcoming “Solar Vengeance” and “Alien Uprising,” is planning for a production date of May. Regarding the script, Andrew said, “I read Eric's script and knew immediately that I wanted to shoot it. Of course, it's a huge feature film--hoverbikes, a fight on a dirigible high above a dystopian alien city--but taking big-budget ideas and making them work for more sensible budgets is what we do!" Although he has optioned his work before, this is Eric’s first sale. Based in the UK, he had this to say about listing with InkTip: “It doesn't matter where in the world you are or who you know. Instead you are judged solely on the strength of the material. That for me is the greatest thing about InkTip.”

Based out of Sweden, Anders and Per are repped by Kathy Muraviov of The Muraviov Company. Kathy, who actively discovers and manages the careers of a bevy of up-and-coming and writers, discovered “Tight” on InkTip back in 2007. This is Anders' and Per’s first option.
Rock On! Films Options "Billy Joel's Car" Mar 19, 2009
Joe Eckardt with Rock On! Films optioned “Billy Joel’s Car” from Musician/Actor/ Filmmaker/Writer Rocco after discovering the script on InkTip. Eckardt knows what sort of material attracts actors; his previous credits include “High Hopes” (with Jason Mewes, Lacey Chabert, Andy Dick, Edward Furlong, and David Faustino, slated for release in May through Lionsgate), and “Champion” (with Dennis Hopper, Antonio Banderas, Val Kilmer, Steve Buscemi, and film maverick Robert Rodriguez). Pitched as a believable “Iron Man” meets “Murderball” project, “Gear Head” tells the story of a handicapped genius who teams up with an electrical engineer to turn his wheelchair into a crime fighting machine. According to Boris, “movies that champion the underdog are precisely the sort of films people go to see in hard economic times and ‘Gear Head’ had everything we were looking for in a marketable story.” Boris’s other projects include “Vivaldi,” which has Joseph Fiennes, Malcolm McDowell and Gerard Depardieu attached, and “Without a Hitch” which he found on InkTip, and is being packaged by Brillstein-Grey Entertainment. Hultquist, the writer of Michael Pierce’s “Victim,” had this to say: “I received 3 emails with interest for ‘Gear Head’ in one week. The story was fun to write, with its ‘Batman in a wheelchair’ scenario.” This is Hultquist’s second option in as many months, and his first through InkTip.

Mark McNabb with Skylight Films has hired his favorite InkTip-sourced writer Barry Cowan to pen the feature screenplay “Ricky Lazio Jr., FBI.” This has actually been an on-going relationship between Skylight Films and Cowan. Cowan was originally hired to write "Billy Owens and the Secret of the Runes," which was shot with famous wrestler and action star Roddy Piper (known for, among other projects, his role in John Carpenter's "They Live") starring. This latest project is particularly exciting because McNabb recently finalized a deal that will make "Ricky Lazio Jr., FBI" the first InkTip-sourced project (that we know of) to get shot in 3D! This is Barry Cowan’s fifth project with Mark McNabb and Skylight Films.

Despite being satisfied with it initially, I kept going back to whittle it down until it captured the fun, high concept nature of the spec… Thanks to InkTip, it caught Victoria's eye and turned into my first option.”

Aimee's treatment resonated with the producers, she was happy to do the assignment and is now hard at work on the first draft. "Aimee's understanding of the time period and the dynamics of the girls' relationships illustrated to us that she is the right person to tell the story," said Beloved CEO Michael Ludlum who added that "InkTip continues to be a proving ground for up and coming writers."
Rapid Heart Pictures Hires InkTip Scribe Mar 9, 2009
David Decoteau of Rapid Heart Pictures hired InkTip scribe Barbara Kymlica to pen an as of yet untitled prison television series. Decoteau has directed several features and television movies since joining InkTip in 2001. His credits include a couple of InkTip-sourced projects like “Killer Bash” which Kymlica wrote. Though this is Barbara’s first television series, the wisdom she gained through her experience in writing feature films is evident. “Make sure you maintain the relationships and connections you have made. They may prove to be vital stepping stones in your career,” she suggests. “Never burn a bridge and keep in touch.” Sound advice indeed. We look forward to hearing more about successes from David and Barbara soon!
The Hudson Agency Options "Repeat After Me" Mar 5, 2009
After discovering writers Scott Honea and Josh Sitarz on InkTip in 2007, Sue Giordano with The Hudson Agency has landed them their first legitimate option! Sue manages some really talented writers and has turned to InkTip in the past to uncover fresh talent and to fill the needs of her clients. In fact, she discovered this writing duo by searching on behalf of a production company she represents. In this latest deal, she arranged the option of their spec comedy “Repeat After Me” to Dawn Wolfrom, a producer on “The Perfect Man” (with Hillary Duff and Heather Locklear). “Repeat After Me” is a character-driven coming-of-age story about a teenage girl who flees her family's wedding chapel in Las Vegas and sets out to become a magician's assistant at a casino scheduled for demolition. The story is about a 10-year-old boy who finds a strange pet lost on earth by a vacationing alien family. The boy must keep the critter out of the clutches of an assortment of crazy aliens who are racing to collect the zillion zaboodle bounty to bring the creature home. After landing the option, Heltay had this to say: "I can't imagine how a Canadian screenwriter could connect with a production company in Tblisi, Georgia without InkTip!" Indeed, we can't imagine either. That's quite a distance for a story about a boy and his alien pet to travel! This is her third option through InkTip.

You may recall seeing his female-driven race movie "Fast Girl" on the cover of the InkTip Magazine last year, or his female-driven action/gambling film "Aces," which we profiled on the cover of the InkTip Magazine in 2006. This new western feature assignment was particularly exciting for writer Bobby Mort because while he's had feature scripts optioned in the past, this is his first specific hire. According to Roman Beilharz, “In a single week, Mr. Domina has been showing more presence and commitment than some producers I have worked with in a whole year, so I am really excited about that at the end of the day. Axiotis specializes in TV MOWs, has relationships with all the major networks and is already taking meetings on these projects. Meanwhile, Sheri Tor had a short produced recently that led to her being hired to write two other features; one with Manmade Entertainment and another with Edge of LA Productions. According to the writer, “[he] wrote this script almost six years ago and has maintained a push on it through InkTip and various screenwriting competitions. Three days later, [he] got an email from Ricardo who loved [his] script and just completed a contract to adapt his short film into a feature.” In these hard economic times, it’s good to know the entertainment industry is still hard at work providing an escape for audiences!

Robert Chartoff (producer on the "Rocky" flicks and "True Confessions," among others) is on board as a producer. "The Color of the Puck" fits their branding effort perfectly because the story transcends sports. According to writer Golik, "Willie's tale is one of determination and a tribute to the resilience of the human spirit, an inspirational message that will resonate with anyone who has struggled to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles." Jessica DiGiacinto, meanwhile, holds an MFA in musical theater writing from Tisch. She told us recently what it was like receiving an email with an option offer while recuperating from surgery. "I jumped up and started yelling in happiness and then promptly fell down again because I wasn't supposed to move," DiGiacinto explained. David Carren, a Texas-based film professional, has over 200 credits in theatre, film and television as a producer, director and writer, including dozens of episodes of "Diagnosis Murder" with Dick Van Dyke, and the upcoming feature thriller "The Red Queen," which Carren co-wrote and is executive producing and directing.

"A mysterious neighbor is moving in, which gives them a lot more to talk about, and plenty of made-up reasons to hate him. The story is set in current time, but has a '30s style and fashion about it. It's a simple story, yet given an appreciated comedic touch by writer John Porter."

Dale Noble Hires Zack Van Eyck to Rewrite "Shadow Killers" Jan 8, 2009
Dale Noble with High Integrity Productions has hired veteran InkTip wordsmith Zack Van Eyck to rewrite his feature film project "Shadow Killers" after meeting the writer in a roundabout sort of way. Zack, after getting a few scripts optioned through InkTip, getting hired onto six different feature writing projects, and getting his first feature film produced, relocated to the Los Angeles area to pursue a full-time career as a screenwriter. He's always maintained at least one active listing on InkTip during the last nine years because it's resulted in him being hired, optioned and having his material read by countless producers - but like any enterprising writer, he's also made a point of getting out and networking, which is how he met Dale Noble. Dale had put a call out to our writers recently, and Zack recognized his name when they met at a party. And since Zack has already written some 27 feature scripts, either on spec or on hire, of course he had a writing sample to share. Dale Noble is an up-and-coming producer who recently completed "Resurrection Mary" (2007), available now on DVD in the U.S., and in some foreign territories. He and his partner, Jesse V. Johnson, have more than 25 years combined experience in independent film production, so we have high expectations for "Shadow Killers."
Joseph Barmettler and Wayne Hackett Option "Practicing Miracles" Jan 8, 2009
Producers Joseph Barmettler and Wayne Hackett optioned "Practicing Miracles" from screenwriter DonnaMarie Vaughan after viewing her material on InkTip. Joseph Barmettler is producing Zep Tepi Entertainment's upcoming Pro Beach Volleyball feature "Green Flash" to be released by MGM in June 2009. Award-wining producer/director Wayne Hackett will also be producing. His last film won a Gold Medal at the Park City Film Festival and was an official selection at the Dances with Wolves Film Festival in Los Angeles. DonnaMarie Vaughan has had a slew of successes over the course of her career, and "Practicing Miracles," as well as several of her other screenplays, have placed high in competitions. We're really looking forward to seeing the final product and believe we'll be hearing more about this writer in the future.

For David, this is the second feature project he has managed to pull out of the shorts section on the site, proving yet again how easy it is to find great material. David Bellino has been keeping busy on InkTip lately, having picked up or hired four writers for short films, and this is just one of three feature projects he’s working on, all with writers sourced through InkTip. So stay tuned, because we’ll be mentioning at least one more Second Wind Films project soon!

Suzan Derkson, meanwhile, has worked on some of the most highly acclaimed and Emmy Award winning television series shot in Canada, e.g., "The X-Files," "Millennium," and the Hallmark mini-series "Dreamkeeper," as well as on features like the "Scary Movie" franchise. The deal was negotiated by Lutz' manager, Paula Brancato, a producer and former investment banker who also works as a screenwriting professor at USC, where she and Matt first met.

Sammy Montana of Trancas International Films optioned the science fiction TV series "Amplifier" from Glenn Forbes after Forbes responded to a lead in the Preferred Newsletter. The series concept is loosely based on Forbes' successful short film, also titled "Amplifier," which he wrote and directed. Trancas International Films' credits include the "Halloween" franchise. This is Glenn Forbes' second InkTip success story; one of his previous feature screenplays was optioned in 2006.
